Deep Creek Lake

We are sad to let our fans know that Helmuth (Ace) Heise, founder of Wisp Resort, has passed. He and his wife, Eveyln, bought Will O’ Wisp hotel and restaurant in 1952. Then in 1953, they built a 10 unit motel. In 1955 they established Marsh Mountain Ski Area, which changed its name to Wisp in 1957. In 2001, Heise sold his financial interested in the Wisp Resort.

We will honor his memory, and express our greatest sympathies towards the family.
